Sydney Sixers have announced that West Indies captain Jason Holder will play three matches for the franchise in late December.

Holder, who is currently touring New Zealand with his country will be available for Sixers’ matches against Adelaide Strikers on December 20, Melbourne Stars on December 26 and Melbourne Renegades on December 29.

The six foot-seven-inch allrounder becomes Sixers’ fourth overseas signing – joining fellow West Indian Carlos Brathwaite and Englishmen Tom Curran and James Vince. Teams can sign up to six overseas player this year; however, only three overseas players can take to the field in any one match.

“I’m really excited to be coming to the BBL and in particular the Sydney Sixers,” Holder said.

“I’ve wanted to for a few years now and this year I have the opportunity to come in and make some appearances and hopefully do a bit for the Sixers.”

The 29-year-old has yet to feature in the BBL but has watched it from a distance and has played with Sixers’ captain Moises Henriques in the IPL previously.

“BBL cricket is an interest for me and the Sixers have been successful over the past few years. Moises and I played together at Sunrisers and I really enjoyed that. It will be good to do it again.”

Henriques will also be available for Sixers on December 20 following his return from ODI and Australia ‘A’ duty.

Sixers will begin their title defence against Hobart Hurricanes on December 10.
