Matt Parkinson has been ruled out of England’s ODI series against Ireland.

The leg-spinner sprained his left ankle on Monday, with scans revealing that he will be unable to take any further part in the series.

He will leave the bio-secure bubble on Tuesday.

Parkinson had initially been part of England’s 30-man enlarged Test squad ahead of the three-match series against West Indies.

He dismissed Ben Stokes in the intra-squad warmup match at the Ageas Bowl but, with Dom Bess and Jack Leach ahead of him in the pecking order, joined up with Eoin Morgan’s white-ball party ahead of Ireland’s visit.
